The Difference Between Thinking and Mentally Escaping
Not every thought is helping you move forward
The mind is always moving.
Even in quiet moments, something is happening internally.
Thoughts appear.
Ideas form.
Memories return.
Future situations begin playing out before they exist.
Most people assume this is simply thinking.
But there is a difference between thinking clearly and mentally escaping.
One creates understanding.
The other creates distance from reality.
And the line between the two is much thinner than it seems.
Thinking creates clarity
Healthy thinking has direction.
It helps solve a problem.
It helps process an experience.
It helps organize information into something useful.
Eventually, it reaches some form of conclusion.
Even if the answer is imperfect, there is movement toward resolution.
The mind engages with reality, processes it, and then releases it.
There is a sense of completion.
